People ask me all the time why I chose Frederick.
I trained at the University of Michigan, then completed my pediatric dental residency at the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the most respected children's hospitals in the country. I could have joined a large group practice anywhere. I could have stayed in a major metro area close to where I trained.
I chose Frederick on purpose.

When I started looking at where to open a practice, I spent time understanding what families in the Frederick area were actually experiencing at pediatric dental offices. What I kept hearing was a version of the same story: rushed appointments, kids leaving in tears, parents who felt talked at rather than listened to, and a general sense that dental visits were something to dread and get through, not something that could actually be positive.
That does not have to be the experience. I knew it because I trained in environments where the standard was completely different.
At CHOP, we cared for some of the most medically complex pediatric patients in the country, children with rare diagnoses, kids who had never had a successful dental visit anywhere else, infants with feeding difficulties from tongue ties that no one had caught. We had to meet those kids exactly where they were. We had to be patient, creative, and genuinely invested in outcomes because the stakes were real.

More importantly, early visits establish a relationship.
